CPASS Foundation is the forward-looking successor to the Chicago Area Health and Medical Careers Program (CAHMCP, known as “Champs”), offering a new focus on STEM-related careers for traditionally underrepresented students in Illinois.
“In Champs, I was around kids who weren’t afraid to show their smarts,” said Dr. Eric Whitaker, CPASS Foundation’s Executive Director. “It really helped me become the physician I am today. Now we have a broader mission that includes both medical and other STEM-related careers, because technology is the key to our future.”
CPASS Foundation will help prepare middle school, high school, and college students of color for professions they may never even have known about. Our programs are all about developing skills and providing opportunities to ensure that students understand how they can achieve and thrive in medical and related STEM careers.
On our website, you’ll find information about our programs and why a STEM education matters. You can watch and listen to the success stories of medical professionals of color. The site will keep you informed about upcoming STEM events and news about the students in our programs. One of the most valuable website features is a search tool that makes it easy to find the STEM programs in your neighborhood that offer the most educational value at the right price. We also invite you to add your comments to our blog and let us know about your own pathways to a STEM career.
